I have been to Caffiends many times and have never had a less than great cup of coffee. Yes you have to wait for it to be prepared but that is the nature of getting a good cup of coffee. The food is also very good and reasonably priced. The other thing Caffiends has going for it is atmosphere. Small and cozy, a library, live music and a wide variety of patrons.

I will give the owner the benefit of the doubt. I have just moved to panama city , and I don't quite know my way around. Was looking for a nice alternative coffee shop and this fellow ( who is really a nice, friendly guy) has it down. I'm a well travelled guy, older and I've been around enough. His décor is quite impressive in an artsy, small bistro way. He's knowledgeable and we had a great conversation. He's just never open, it seems. The first time, I was here only 2 days and got up early, despite driving through the day before, I could not find this place. Poor signage, small sign, no directions, then I pull up 7am next day, and he pops open the door ! Had a lovely cup of Vietnamese styled "drip" coffee , which I haven't had since the Vietnamese San Francisco days. I promised to return after I close on my home.. I did 2 weeks later, on a Saturday nite but the doors were locked...seems he is closed a lot. One big complaint, people cannot patronize you if the door is closed, my friend. Now I go to Starbucks, they are always open. but it's a 4.5 if he's there ! Small, homey, cozy, music nights, got potential.

Quaint little start up place nooked among bayfront business district. The vegan black bean burger has great flavor and just the right amount of spice. Coffee is ground up right as you order it-you won't find a fresher brew in town!

Very friendly service and free wi-fi. I had an iced chai and a small blueberry muffin. My main issue with this place is that its TEENY. That doesn't allow the owner much room to put larger tables for studying. While I understand that they are not trying to "bring in the masses" (the owner's words), I am only studying for one class and with my text book, lap top and drink, could have easily made use of a slightly larger table (most of the ones they have are designed to seat 2). That said, the business is still pretty new. I would love to see them be able to expand and make it a bit larger. Also, wold love to see them expand the baked goods they offer and include some scones or rice crispy treats.

If you enjoy coffee, this is the spot; you choose your flavor, they grind the beans with a hand turn mill and brew via pour over. If that's not enough goodness the beans are roasted locally right here in Panama City. Pressed sandwiches are also on the menu, no Cuban but there is a Reuben so it's all good. Swing by and meet the friendly folks at Caffiends!
